In 1981, Bobbie Jo met Lathan Griffin, her life-long partner of more than 40 years in Kansas City, KS.īobbie Jo is preceded in death by her father, Luke Houston her mother, Lola Houston her twin sons, Joseph and Anthony Turner her sister, Cellia Jean Houston and brother-in-law, Jerry Hollinshed.īobbie Jo is survived by her life-long partner Lathan Griffin her sister, Deborah Hollinshed her sons, Andre and Demarcus Houston, Sr. Bobbie Jo was a great conversationalist, which shined through her service as a telecommunications switchboard operator for Crown Center. Her very best friend of 50 years, Brenda Rollins along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special children, and many friends.Bobbie Jo Houston was born on Jin Kansas City, KS to Luke Roy and Lola Houston. Special niece/cousin, Veroncia Logan-Yancey (Ronni), Michael Carter (Lynettte), and Kanetra Graham (David). Step Father, Levi Patton Sister, Katheryn Carter, and Sister In Law, Doris Yancey. Six grandchildren, Derrick, Timothy II, Blake, Reagen, Colin, and Cheyene and three step grandchildren Antoine, Ashley and Winifred. Estell of Fort Worth, TX and Stephanie J. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Timothy R. In as much so, she became one of facebook’s inspirational Mother’s known as “The Porch Lady”, giving daily wisdom to all who would read. Teresa was an encourager at heart and loved to encourage everyone she could. She retired her working career at Credit Motors in 2012. She later became a student of Brown Mackie College and received her degree as a Paralegal where she began working for Rubins, Case, Rubins, Cambiano, and Byrant. She was a proud member of the local Meat Cutters Union. Teresa was a dedicated employee of Safeway, Food Barn, and Hyper-mart as a Meat Cutter. At the time of her passing, she was a current member of the Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Benjamin Stephens, III. She was one of the founding members of Abundant Life Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Walker. She was also a member of Love Fellowship Church under the leadership of Reverend Willie Kelly and Gus Franklin. She had a love for young people which lead her to start the youth group Teens Loving Christ (TLC). She was a faithful choir member and was a member of These Are They Community Choir and The Sacred Singers. She became the first church clerk, remaining in that position for ten years. ![]() She accepted Christ at the age of nineteen at Greater Corinthian Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Raymond Davis Jr. ![]() She was later united in Holy matrimony to Edward Houston until the marriage was dissolved. After graduating Teresa was united in holy matrimony to Otis Timothy Estell at the age of eighteen. Teresa was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and graduated from Central Senior High School in 1966. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sister Bonnie E. Willa Patton was also known as mother by Teresa. Sister Teresa Ann Houston was born on May 23rd, 1948 to Thomas McGruder and Jane Robinson-McGruder in Kansas City, Missouri. ![]()
